This new residence perched high on Ascot hill commands a view across the Brisbane skyline. The house, built on the side of Bartley’s lookout follows the steep contours of the land cascading over 4 levels, maximising solar access, breezes and views, in one of the most private settings that an inner-city site affords. The home is expansive and was imagined to create an expansive living level at the highest elevation possible, both sides of the living area open to the hilltop site and whilst the view facing south is the hero, the living, kitchen and dining pavilion opens to the north via a private grassed courtyard that hugs the reserve that flanks the site on three sides.

A home that followed the topography of Bartleys Hill and embraced the open space of the reserve as though the site extended into the bushland. The infinity edged pool, open living area with the skyline of the CBD behind forms the backdrop for the large entertaining area, whilst creating intimate family experiences, such as the caravan inspired breakfast nook and the intimate day bed.
